USMLE STEP 1 LIVE PREP

USESOM is excited to offer a post-Basic Sciences, comprehensive, systems-based USMLE Step 1 Prep Course!

The University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine now offers a rigorous Step 1 review course designed to expose academic weaknesses and rebuild students' medical knowledge and confidence in preparation to sit the USMLE Step 1.

Utilizing a question bank containing thousands of practice examples and test questions, USMLE Step 1 Live Prep faculty-mentors review the Basic Sciences in an integrated format allowing students to prep for the USMLE Step 1 in the same manner as they will be tested.

Feeback is the key! Beginning the first day, students are assessed with an entrance exam which has been developed to identify specific strengths and weaknesses in students' previous medical education. Live lectures, clinical vignettes, case-based and problem-based learning, practice assessments, and successful test-taking strategies are combined with weekly assessments to provide the feedback necessary to assist students in focusing on their problem areas while refreshing their exisitng knowledge base on an integrated level.

It's not about memorizing, it's about understanding and applying that knowledge! Whether students are fresh out of 5th Term, or have already taken Step 1 and received an unacceptable score, USMLE Step 1 Live Prep provides the high yield tools necessary to better study the material through a systems-approach and assimilation of real-world scenarios while increasing students' confidence by enhancing their understanding of the medical basic sciences and processes - just as they will need when they continue their education beyond Step 1. A few example questions and scenarios, chosen from the spectrum of content found within the course, can be reviewed here, and also found in the Notes section of USESOM's Facebook page.

Since the inception of USMLE Step 1 Live Prep, 240 students have taken the course. Successful participants who have previously taken Step 1 have universally increased their scores, in many cases as much as 22 to 35 points on their 3-digit scores. Additionally, numerous students successfuly passed Step 1 on their first attempt after having taken USMLE Step 1 Live Prep. A few examples of students' feedback can be found here.

While there are no guarrantees in life, USMLE Step 1 Live Prep provides students with the in-depth tools necessary to reinforce the knowledge obtained in the Basic Sciences. Ultimately, success depends on a student's discipline, diligence, and assimillation of the materials. This high-yield program is designed to expose weaknesses and reduce them. Classes are in session 9AM -1PM, 3 to 5 days per week (depending on the exam schedule) for 12 weeks. Attendance of each USMLE Step 1 Live Prep class session and sitting for each exam is of the utmost importance.

(3) 12-week sessions are scheduled for 2012. Advance reservations are highly recommended:

May 2nd - July 18th

September 3rd - November 21st
