KRISTEN N. WISLER

Kristen Wisler

Undergrad/Grad Alma Mater:
Bowling Green State University ‘05

Occupation or medical experience prior to medical school:
I worked in a medical office for a number of years as a receptionist and eventually, as a medical assistant for two years prior to medical school. I was also fortunate in that I was also able to observe surgery from time to time.

Did you apply to US Medical schools?
No

Why did you choose USESOM?
I chose USESOM because it offered exactly what I was looking for. The New York staff was very informative and aided in this life transition in the way that I needed.

In what area of medicine do you plan to practice why?
I would love to do plastic surgery. I have observed many patients before and after their procedures. I imagine it is quite rewarding to see their renewed sense of happiness/self-worth and to know you played an integral role in that. I am a firm believer in the idea that you must feel good about yourself first, to accomplish anything else.

What groups/clubs/organizations do you participate in?
I am a member of AMSA.

What are your best memories and favorite things about medical school on Statia?
Statia is a great place to study with limited distractions…it is a unique, once in a lifetime experience.

What is your greatest achievement in life so far?
Every single day here is an achievement. It is one more day of knowledge; it is one step closer to my goal.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
Golf, tennis, horseback riding, and writing.
