CARL ROSS

What did you do before acceptance to medical school?
Prior to my acceptance to medical school, I was a cytogenetics technologist at L.S.U. Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana for four years; I also had begun graduate studies, in Physiology, at L.S.U.H.S.C. - Shreveport.
Do you have family, children and/or a significant other? I am currently single, happily living the "bachelor's life".
Why did you choose SESOM for medical school? I chose SESOM because the clinical placements are outstanding, and the professors are well-versed in multiple subjects.
In what area of medicine do you plan to practice? At this time, the areas of medicine that I am interested in are Pathology, Internal Medicine, and the Internal Medicine Subspecialties. However, I have not committed to any particular field and with time I will make a decision.
What are your best memories and favorite things about medical school on Statia? My best memories of Statia so far are Sunday mornings- attending church and looking out over the Caribbean Sea. I also enjoy watching the free roaming animals and hiking our dormant volcano, “the Quill”.
After your Basic Sciences education is complete, will you return to Statia for a visit? Of course!!!!! I will be back and I will definitely bring my future wife and children!
Carl Ross is a 2nd year medical student at USESOM.
