Occupation or medical experience prior to medical school:

Did you apply to US Medical schools?
Yes
Why did you choose USESOM?
I chose USESOM based on its smaller class sizes and clinical reputation. I had talked with students from other Caribbean schools and USESOM students in rotations and residency who encouraged me to learn more about the school. I thought it was a safe, small island that was good for studying.
In what area of medicine do you plan to practice why?
I am undecided but interested in Surgery or Ob/Gyn.
What groups/clubs/organizations do you participate in?
I am and have been part of SGA since starting at USESOM. I am also a member of Sports Club, Sankofa, and the Mentor-Mentee program.
What are your best memories and favorite things about medical school on Statia?
My best memory is winning the student basketball tournament championship with my friends. My favorite thing about medical school on Statia is the student involvement within the school and the community. There are many events and opportunities to be active and involved.
What is your greatest achievement in life so far?
Earning an MPH and continuing my educational goal of becoming an MD.
What hobbies do you have?
I enjoy reading, travelling, playing and watching sports.
