| Scholarship goes to University of Sint Eustatius Medical Student
July 4 , 2007
Marc Ginsburg, a second year medical student at the University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine, is the recipient of the Medical Education and Innovation Scholarship offered by the University.
Mr. Ginsburg is a Canadian citizen with a nursing background who transferred to the University of Sint Eustatius from a medical school in Bulgaria. Under the supervision of faculty member Dr. Lori Trout, Mr. Ginsburg has been instrumental in developing and teaching hands-on workshops for Sint Eustatius medical students. These workshops, which have been developed to meet U.S. standards, have included interpreting EKG patterns, performing blood draws, and most recently, placement of central lines. During the Central Line Placement workshop that occurred last week, students learned the proper placement and care of central lines, which are catheters that are inserted into a large vein feeding the heart. Universal Precaution procedures were also taught during this simulated training session.
Congratulations are extended to Mr. Ginsburg for his excellence in developing and teaching these workshops during his studies as a Basic Sciences student on Sint Eustatius.
