I have received my acceptance letter and
now need financial aid. What do I do next? |
- Send your $500.00 seat reservation deposit
to the Bursar's office. If you prefer to use
a credit card, please call the Bursar at (516)
656-9250 ext 13 or 41. VISA, MasterCard, and
American Express are accepted. All checks
should be written to International Educational
Management Corp. and sent to International
Educational Management Corp., 6901 Jericho Turnpike, Suite 215, Syosset, NY 11791.
- You will need to submit to us copies of current credit reports for both yourself and your co-borrower. To obtain a free copy of your credit report
you can go to www.annualcreditreport.com. If you do not qualify for a free report, we suggest visiting Transunion's consumer site, www.truecredit.com, and signing up for their credit monitoring service which includes "3-in-1" credit reports and FICO scores from all 3 credit reporting agencies. You will need a credit card to sign up, and you will be charged the first month's fee. However, the service may be canceled before the second month begins.
- We suggest that you print a copy
of the report for your records. If possible, consider printing the reports as PDFs so that you can cleanly and efficiently email them to our Financial Aid department rather than fax. If your computer does not currently have the capability to print to PDF, consider going here to download free PDF printer software or further researching .
- Send us a copy of the 3-agency credit report and FICO
scores, for both yourself and your co-borrower (if applicable),
via mail, fax
or e-mail as listed below:

Can any student apply for a loan? |
Currently loans are available
to both U.S. and Canadian citizen students. International
students can apply for loans if they have a qualified
US Citizen or Permanent resident co-borrower. The
loan amounts and maximums may vary depending on
whether a co-borrower is available. Please contact
us for more information.
|
I don't have a co-signer? Can I still get a loan? |
Due to the current financial market, most loan providers are requesting that students apply with a co-borrower. Additionally, using a co-borrower
may qualify you to apply for a larger loan amount.
|
I have a bankruptcy, a foreclosure or excessive
delinquencies on my credit report. Can I get a
loan? |
Yes, loans may be available,
but past difficulties must be at least 5 years
old, bankruptcies must be at least 10 years old,
and you must have begun reestablishing your credit.
We may be able to assist you in finding lenders that will provide loans for
students with these financial problems, if they
have a strong co-borrower. Students who have excessive
delinquencies will need letters explaining why
the problems occurred and how they are going to
avoid those problems in the future.
|
I defaulted on a previous student loan.
Can I get another one now? |
Usually, finance companies,
banks and lenders do not allow for "second
defaults," if you defaulted on a student
loan in the past. You will need to clear it up
before applying successfully for another one.
|
My loan was denied. Now what can I do? |
Most loan programs offer
a "second look". For a loan to be reconsidered
there must be sufficient documentation to validate
the necessity of reviewing the file again. This
means that you will need letters of explanation for problem
vendors, paid receipts for unpaid bills, and anything
else that you think can help revitalize your credit
report. Also, a detailed letter of explanation
from you as to why you should be reconsidered
will be necessary.
|
I have graduated but still owe money. Can I can obtain a loan for recent past due balances? |
Some lenders have loan programs
that allow students to apply for funds even if
you have recently graduated. Please contact
us to determine if we can assist you in accessign these programs.

What do I do if I have not received a tuition invoice? |
You are responsible for paying
your tuition 30 days prior to the start of that
term. If you have not received an invoice you
may contact the Bursar’s
Office to request a copy of your statement
and to confirm your current address, email address,
and phone number.
|
What do I do if I receive a bill for a late tuition payment? |
The policy on tuition is clear:
Tuition is due 30 days prior to the start of the
term. If a student is applying for loans and communication
is ongoing with the Financial Aid Office, then
late fees may be waived. If a student is assessed
with a late fee, they can contact the Bursar’s
Office to request a review of their account
to see why the late fee was assessed. This is
only a review request process and does not mean
the late fee will automatically be waived unless
acceptable reasons exist. Lack of communication by the student entirely will not only leave the situation unresolved, but could result in escalation of the attempt to collect the debt via use of a collection agency. Additionally, unresolved financial situations could also result in expulsion from the school. Communication is key.
