Do clinical rotations start on
the same dates as the Basic Science terms?
|
No. The start-dates for clinical
clerkships are determined by individual hospitals and may be
influenced by a student's readiness to begin clinical experiences
(e.g., post Step I).
|
What kind of rotations must be
completed?
|
For core rotations, students complete
12 weeks each of Surgery and Internal Medicine and 6 weeks each of Psychiatry,
Pediatrics, OB/GYN and Family Practice (total of 48 weeks). The
remaining 24 weeks of electives are selected at each student's
discretion based on interest and availability.
|
When is the USMLE Step I taken?
|
Step I is taken after the Basic
Science courses are completed but before the start of clinical
rotations.
|
When is the USMLE Step II CS & CK taken?
|
It is recommended to take Step II exams after completion of third year core rotations.
|
Are the hospitals "Green Book"?
|
We are proud to say that the majority
of our rotations take place in Green Book (teaching) hospitals and
Green-Book affiliated hospitals and clinics.
|
Does the University offer
clerkships in other countries besides the U.S.?
|
Yes, clerkships can be arranged in a
variety of locations around the world. Currently, we have specific
arrangements for clerkships in the U.K. Canadian options may be
available by application.
